“So the World May HeAR”

Nationally, Delta Zeta supports the Starkey Hearing Foundation, the American Society for Deaf Children, and SeriousFun Children’s Network.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation gives the gift of hearing to those in need in over 100 countries. Since the naming of Starkey Hearing Foundation as our national partner in 2015, Delta Zeta has raised over $5.5 million dollars for them! This allowed 500,000 people to receive hearing aids, 70 new programs to be built around the globe, seven national hearing healthcare plans to be initiated, and the Starkey Hearing institute to be built in Lusaka, Zambia. Pi Epsilon’s contribution to Starkey supports the explain of the institute grounds and scholarships for education resources.

The American Society for Deaf Children has made its mission to help parents of deaf children learn American Sign Language. More than 90 percent of deaf children have parents that can hear, and our partnership with the ASCD allows Delta Zeta members the opportunity to learn more about ASL, create a greater understanding of deaf culture, and spread awareness of the deaf community.

Additionally, our new Global Service Project is SeriousFun Children’s Network (SeriousFun) which has 30 camps and programs worldwide. Its mission is to help children and their families reach beyond serious illness to discover joy, confidence, and new possibilities. Members are given the opportunity to volunteer globally, help the children, and enrich their own lives. Our contributions to SeriousFun supports the camps, programs, and nationwide initiatives.

On a local level, our chapter supports the Meyer Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The Meyer Center assists children with disabilities or special needs and provides the right support, education, and environment to help them reach their full potential.

Through our two main philanthropy events this year, the Pink Rose Gala and Spikes for Speech, our chapter raised nearly $45,000 for Hearing and Speech!
